DHI (Direct Hair Implantation)
DHI is a modified version of FUE Hair Transplantation and follows a similar procedure . Your surgeon will remove follicles from your donor areas at the back of the head and implant them into the balding areas.
Here’s what you can expect during your procedure :
1. Your surgeon will typically ( although not always ) shave your head and apply local anaesthesia to numb it.
2. The surgeon will extract follicles from the back of the head using an oscillating punch with a fine tip and under micro magnification will punch the skin no deeper tan 2 mm.
3.The hair follicles will be loaded into a pen shaped tool ( The Choi Implanter ) and implant thousands of follicles in a single day.
4.The surgeon will apply antibiotic creams and apply a bandage to the donor area .
The DHI procedure generally takes 8 hours to complete with the exact time varying subject to the number of hair follicles transplanted . Transplanted hair will typically start to grow after 3 months with approximately 60% of the hair having established itself by 6 months post operatively with full results by 12-18 months.
